Welcome to Warren Street Studios!
We are a brand new multi-disciplinary arts collective in Central London; facilitating creative collaborations between emerging international artists from the worlds of film, theatre, comedy, music and visual art.
Warren Street Studios was conceived by Alex Marx (Artistic Director and a London-born actor, writer and director) in partnership with his longstanding friend Rupert Ratcliffe (Managing Director, property entrepreneur and a London-born actor).
“We want to develop work that will give ambitious artists the opportunity to connect in a synergetic way, and in doing so create truly collaborative work. Warren Street Studios aspires to provide artists with a forum to display their work in an incredibly central and innovative space.” Rupert Ratcliffe, Managing Director
Our inaugural production – Permanence – is a raw and provocative new play by American writer Cyd Casados – directed by Marx – starring Christien Anholt (whose international career in stage, film and television spans over three decades) and Canadian rising star Samantha Michelle.
Set in a painter’s studio in Brooklyn during the late 90s, the play charts the push and pull of a modern relationship; probing deep at the themes of sex, art and addiction.
“Working in London’s most intimate theatre and developing the show over a period of months has afforded us the chance to work in a highly naturalistic and honest style; giving the actors a chance to focus on intimacy, truth and depth in performance.” Alex Marx, Director
Permanence features select paintings by Robi Walters – as well as original music by Alexander Teller.
Permanence runs July 14 – 26th (7:30pm Tues – Sat, 4pm Sun)
